Hello.

Driving home from a party last night, this song came on over the radiowaves and a quick google search when I got home revealed the man who has worked his music and quirky video clips into my veins and a spot on my iPod: French DJ, Martin Solveig.

I also have a thing for music videos that tell a story (as long as it makes sense) rather than ones that just have the performers on stage or skipping merrily down a street or similar. I'm a fan of tennis and seeing two DJ's duke it out on clay was fun to watch- the cameo by Novak Djokovic made me giggle a bit too haha. Shame Martin didn't get his girl in the end, bitch.

I have officially declared this my summer anthem.

The OTHER Laguna Beach

Lagoon: (noun) a body of water cut off from a larger body by a reef of sand or coral.

Today my man and I packed up our stuff and went for a drive up to Yanchep and its beautiful lagoon. I love it there, the beach is nice and clean and the water is always a spectacular shade of  turquoise. We found ourselves a nice little hideaway amongst the rocks away from the sand-carrying wind and set up our fruit salad pic-a-nic with a side of tanning oil.

Pictures taken via iPhone, hence the poorer quality :P

My Little Pony

ONE. Today was spent at Pinjarra Park Racecourse watching magnificent creatures duke it out on a track that made me hate my front yard. As a first time race-goer I was pretty impressed by the experience. When I was a child I never understood why other little girls had obsessions with horses- and now I kind of do. I was also astounded at how amazing the track/lawn was. It was unbelievably green! As if the few mm of rain we have had this year have all been falling on that one area and there are no dogs to burn it with wee. Even though I didn't win any moolah today I still had a decent time. Racing horse names always tend to make me giggle.

TWO. I have officially passed university (and can now end my name with the suffix 'BComm') haha. Three years at the University of Western Australia and about a million dollars worth of text books and train rides has gotten me a Bachelor of Commerce with majors in Financial Accounting and Corporate Finance and a minor in Business Law *phew* that's a mouthful. The only lame thing is that since my last name is towards the end of the alphabet, I don't get to go to the same graduation ceremony as most of my friends which is kind of a bummer. Maybe I'll just gatecrash theirs in my robe for some photos.

THREE. I'm now on bloglovin

Not the gumdrop buttons!

ONE: One of the things I do enjoy about the Christmas season is baking gingerbread cookies (I've yet to attempt making a house from scratch). The only thing is that the recipe I use makes LOADS and I usually leave them in a container on the kitchen bench. This, of course, means that each time I go into the kitchen I just have to have one (or three) so I usually give most of them away before I can eat them all. Yesterday I took some into work and my boss asked me to make her a batch that she would pay me for ie for ingredients plus effort (and love). So how much should I ask for?

TWO: Finally finished my first book of the summer holidays; "One Fifth Avenue" by Candace Bushnell (of Sex and the City fame). If you like Sex and the City and Lipstick Jungle and other similar books, you'll like this too. It basically revolves around this well known address and all the intrigue that surrounds it. There are a good mix of characters; the Playboy, the witty Aunt, the Actress, the Hedge Fund guy, the Nosy Parker and many others so it's not just confined to one stereotype. I'll keep you posted on the rest of my summer reading list.

THREE: When I ordered my new iPhone 4 it said delivery could be expected within 2-4 business days- I had to wait 3 weeks and it almost killed me! Anyways on the day that I was about to get on the phone and do some serious complaining to my telco, it finally arrived. The only thing is that to port my number across I have to make sure my current number is in my name (currently under my mum's name because when I got the number I was about 14) and then port it across. So basically my new toy has been sitting on my desk being a tease. Well I waited 3 weeks, what's another day or two?

Overseas adventures, my excuses and a bit of 'Bah Humbug!'

ONE. I'm baaaaack! Sorry to anyone who may have been following the Movember Project and noticed that they kind of dropped off the face of the earth. Usually with things like that I get bored or run out of ideas or lack motivation and give up (my 365 project lasted about 20 days) BUT this wasn't due to the aforementioned circumstances. As mentioned in the last post I left the lid off the whiteboard marker I was using and it dried out. Then I forgot to buy a new one. Then I went on holiday. Long story short it only just made it past the half-way point. I might resurrect it and do a giant 'make up' post later, but don't hold your breath.

TWO. I recently went on holiday with my boyfriend to Kuala Lumpur and Bali. I love travelling and seeing new places and all the history and intrigue they offer. Most of all it is good to get out of your comfort zone and experience new things. We basically made KL a "shop till you drop" destination with some sightseeing on the side (Malaysia's Year End Sale started on Nov 20 so we got some good bargains :D) and then spent our time in Bali sleeping in and lounging by the pool. Buffet breakfasts will be the death of me!

THREE. Christmas is 19 days away. And I am not excited. Does this make me Ebenezer Scrooge's long lost cousin? I have had no motivation to put up the decorations or even think about present shopping. Oy.

FOUR. On a happier note, I have approximately 6 months of holidays (assuming I passed my final exams) until I start full time work next May. My calendar until then consists of: many days at the beach, many nights out, a holiday to the Philippines and a short course in photography at TAFE. This also means that a lot of my time on the computer has been researching different entry-level DSLR cameras with reasonable price tags. Any suggestions?

Brain scramble

Was about to go to bed until I realised I hadn't done a photo today.
Then I also realised I left the cap off the whiteboard marker I've been using :|

So here's my replacement on regular paper...
Hope my head's more screwed on for my final exam tomorrow morning.

Byee.

Flavour saver

In all the ridiculous vampire propaganda that has been floating around for the past few years, I am yet to see one with a decent 'mo. Or maybe there is and I just haven't noticed because I refuse to be sucked into the "genre". Haha, see what I did there? *crickets*

Cross-eyed

Today was such a study fail. I wish I could rewind back to this morning and find my motivation.
Note to self: spend less time in front of the laptop.

I also hope everyone took a minute of silence this morning. Lest We Forget.

Generic blog post title.

Channelling the Monopoly Man. I wish some things were as easy as passing 'GO' and collecting $200.
*sigh*
2 exams down, 3 to go.

"The time has come," the walrus said...

Mustache man is feeling a little anxious on my behalf.
I have the first of my last university exams tomorrow morning (and it's my most difficult one). Which is kind of ok, since I can stress a little less afterwards, and it has made me study, otherwise I tend to leave the hardest until last.

Maybe... I can wear the mustache into the exam and sit near a bunch of really smart kids. Then they get distracted and don't do so well and that stuffs up the distribution and I get scaled better. Yay! Or not.

Note to self: the prefix 'euro' does not specifically refer to the actual currency. Eurocurrency refers to a currency being held in a bank that is outside the banking regulations of the country that issues the denomination... Or something like that :P

Wish me luck!

Wakey Wakey, Rise and Shine!

I'm being nice and letting Mustache Man have a little sleep in.
I on the other hand am up and about to get my study on.
Hoping the productivity levels are better than yesterday.

It's been a Loooong Day

Mustache Man's a little tired today.

And so am I.
All study and no play makes Rachel a dull girl. And tired. With dark under eye shadows.
2 weeks and a day and I will be in KL with my man (actual, not mustache) contemplating what I will do with my 6 months of holiday before full time work.
In the meantime I'm up to my tired eyeballs in study. Oh, the horror.

Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner!

I think someone had a win at the races :P

Mustache Man number two... I really need to think of something better to write for the next 28 days haha.

MOVEMBER IS UPON US!

Sooo. To start off this blogger site I was going to do one of those 30 day challenge thingies where you learn more about yourself as a person and blah-di-blah. BUT, the timing couldn't have been more perfect and I thought this would be a better way to kick things off.

First, here's a picture of my bathroom counter;

*Starts singing* "Caaaaaaan you tell one thing, that's not like the other? Can you tell one thing just doesn't belong? Can you tell what thing is not like the other, by the time I finish my song?"

Did you spot it? Well, aside from the iPhone that doesn't really belong in my bathroom... it's *drumroll please*

THIS BABY!
Today I bought a pair of thinning shears (amazing btw!) and as I finished up thinning out my hair, and cleaning them up out of the sink a little lightbulb flickered on. "This would make an AMAZING moustache!" she says to herself. So I gathered it up and with a lot of hairspraying and snipping, I came up with my mo. Now, after taking the obligatory moustache shots of myself I couldn't bear to throw it out and ended up sticking it to my shower screen.

Then I remembered my boyfriend left a whiteboard marker at my place.

And thus, my moustache man was born!

Ok basically I'm going to keep this on my shower for the whole month and give him a new face as often as i can (I'm really aiming for every day, but sometimes that's just not possible/i'm too lazy).

Now, I'm no longer the art student that I used to be, so he might not be very interesting but bear with me,

and enjoy.
