DIY: Candy Strands

I know that hair chalking isn't anything new, but given I don't have a corporate (or any) job to go to right now I thought I'd finally test it out.

Using this tutorial (I nixed the gloves and used heat protectant spray instead of water) and my hoarded high school art supplies I got to work making on myself look like I was joining Charlie and his unicorn friends on an adventure to Candy Mountain.

The colours turned out great on my lighter ombre ends, although the crusty-ness of the dried pastels took me back to Greece and having 3 days of salt water build up in my hair. Given I'm trying to get my hair back to a healthy state, this probably isn't something I'd do all too often, but probably good for a night out/costume party.

Scary Thoughts.

Someone pointed out to me last Friday night that I hadn't done a blog post in over a month (Brad, in case you're reading this! haha) and after that I was planning on doing a "my-life-according-to-Instagram" type post, but I was too lazy to even do that over the weekend.

The reason I haven't been active on here lately is due to work and my dreaded first CA exam tomorrow morning. I've had the past week off on study/procrastination leave and haven't really been able to concentrate on much else.

I agreed to be a model for a little hair show today and was plaited, crimped and teased up like Scary Spice. Of course I couldn't let it all go to waste and took some happy snaps when I got home (more goodies below). I actually had a nice relaxing day today and haven't really thought about tomorrow's exam much, which I think is good otherwise I probably would have made myself sick.

Usually right now (night before an exam) I'd be cramming and preparing notes to put under my pillow in the hope that the knowledge will float through and imbed itself in my dreams (or perhaps cause some unwanted nightmares!) However, I think writing this post is a much better way of spending my time :)

I think I've come to terms with the fact, if it al goes downhill tomorrow then I only have myself to blame for procrastinating during the week, and that failing something is not the end of the world...

... there's always the supplementary ;)

Hairspiration: What? I Woke Up Looking Like This...

When I think of sexy, tousled I-just-rolled-out-of-bed-looking-fabulous hair, the one person that comes to mind is French former actress/model Brigitte Bardot, and more recently, Blake Lively for Glamour magazine's July issue.

There's a certain je ne sais quoi about that 'come hither' look that makes me want to have a black eyeliner pencil and teasing comb in my possession at all times. I've never previously had any luck with tying a scarf around my head and having it look fabulous, so when I saw a 'turband' on sale I was a tad hesitant, but for 5 bucks it could have easily been used as a duster if it looked rubbish. Glad it didn't come to that.
