Hello.

Driving home from a party last night, this song came on over the radiowaves and a quick google search when I got home revealed the man who has worked his music and quirky video clips into my veins and a spot on my iPod: French DJ, Martin Solveig.

I also have a thing for music videos that tell a story (as long as it makes sense) rather than ones that just have the performers on stage or skipping merrily down a street or similar. I'm a fan of tennis and seeing two DJ's duke it out on clay was fun to watch- the cameo by Novak Djokovic made me giggle a bit too haha. Shame Martin didn't get his girl in the end, bitch.

I have officially declared this my summer anthem.

The OTHER Laguna Beach

Lagoon: (noun) a body of water cut off from a larger body by a reef of sand or coral.

Today my man and I packed up our stuff and went for a drive up to Yanchep and its beautiful lagoon. I love it there, the beach is nice and clean and the water is always a spectacular shade of  turquoise. We found ourselves a nice little hideaway amongst the rocks away from the sand-carrying wind and set up our fruit salad pic-a-nic with a side of tanning oil.

Pictures taken via iPhone, hence the poorer quality :P

My Little Pony

ONE. Today was spent at Pinjarra Park Racecourse watching magnificent creatures duke it out on a track that made me hate my front yard. As a first time race-goer I was pretty impressed by the experience. When I was a child I never understood why other little girls had obsessions with horses- and now I kind of do. I was also astounded at how amazing the track/lawn was. It was unbelievably green! As if the few mm of rain we have had this year have all been falling on that one area and there are no dogs to burn it with wee. Even though I didn't win any moolah today I still had a decent time. Racing horse names always tend to make me giggle.

TWO. I have officially passed university (and can now end my name with the suffix 'BComm') haha. Three years at the University of Western Australia and about a million dollars worth of text books and train rides has gotten me a Bachelor of Commerce with majors in Financial Accounting and Corporate Finance and a minor in Business Law *phew* that's a mouthful. The only lame thing is that since my last name is towards the end of the alphabet, I don't get to go to the same graduation ceremony as most of my friends which is kind of a bummer. Maybe I'll just gatecrash theirs in my robe for some photos.

THREE. I'm now on bloglovin

Not the gumdrop buttons!

ONE: One of the things I do enjoy about the Christmas season is baking gingerbread cookies (I've yet to attempt making a house from scratch). The only thing is that the recipe I use makes LOADS and I usually leave them in a container on the kitchen bench. This, of course, means that each time I go into the kitchen I just have to have one (or three) so I usually give most of them away before I can eat them all. Yesterday I took some into work and my boss asked me to make her a batch that she would pay me for ie for ingredients plus effort (and love). So how much should I ask for?

TWO: Finally finished my first book of the summer holidays; "One Fifth Avenue" by Candace Bushnell (of Sex and the City fame). If you like Sex and the City and Lipstick Jungle and other similar books, you'll like this too. It basically revolves around this well known address and all the intrigue that surrounds it. There are a good mix of characters; the Playboy, the witty Aunt, the Actress, the Hedge Fund guy, the Nosy Parker and many others so it's not just confined to one stereotype. I'll keep you posted on the rest of my summer reading list.

THREE: When I ordered my new iPhone 4 it said delivery could be expected within 2-4 business days- I had to wait 3 weeks and it almost killed me! Anyways on the day that I was about to get on the phone and do some serious complaining to my telco, it finally arrived. The only thing is that to port my number across I have to make sure my current number is in my name (currently under my mum's name because when I got the number I was about 14) and then port it across. So basically my new toy has been sitting on my desk being a tease. Well I waited 3 weeks, what's another day or two?

Overseas adventures, my excuses and a bit of 'Bah Humbug!'

ONE. I'm baaaaack! Sorry to anyone who may have been following the Movember Project and noticed that they kind of dropped off the face of the earth. Usually with things like that I get bored or run out of ideas or lack motivation and give up (my 365 project lasted about 20 days) BUT this wasn't due to the aforementioned circumstances. As mentioned in the last post I left the lid off the whiteboard marker I was using and it dried out. Then I forgot to buy a new one. Then I went on holiday. Long story short it only just made it past the half-way point. I might resurrect it and do a giant 'make up' post later, but don't hold your breath.

TWO. I recently went on holiday with my boyfriend to Kuala Lumpur and Bali. I love travelling and seeing new places and all the history and intrigue they offer. Most of all it is good to get out of your comfort zone and experience new things. We basically made KL a "shop till you drop" destination with some sightseeing on the side (Malaysia's Year End Sale started on Nov 20 so we got some good bargains :D) and then spent our time in Bali sleeping in and lounging by the pool. Buffet breakfasts will be the death of me!

THREE. Christmas is 19 days away. And I am not excited. Does this make me Ebenezer Scrooge's long lost cousin? I have had no motivation to put up the decorations or even think about present shopping. Oy.

FOUR. On a happier note, I have approximately 6 months of holidays (assuming I passed my final exams) until I start full time work next May. My calendar until then consists of: many days at the beach, many nights out, a holiday to the Philippines and a short course in photography at TAFE. This also means that a lot of my time on the computer has been researching different entry-level DSLR cameras with reasonable price tags. Any suggestions?
